We’re in Lincoln proper, which puts us a short, flat drive from anywhere inside the community — whether you’re on the Orchard Creek Lodge side or down near Kilaga Springs. Parking is level and close to the entrance. There’s no parking structure, no long walk, no curb to negotiate.

That matters more than it sounds. A number of our regulars have stopped driving at night, or have given up longer drives into Roseville altogether. A salon you can reach in under ten minutes in daylight is a salon you can actually keep going to.

The knock-on benefit is that your stylist knows your hair over time rather than meeting it fresh every visit. She knows the set that holds through to Thursday, the spots that go flat, the formula that worked in July and went brassy in September.

Hair That Has Changed, Treated by People Who Expect It

Hair at 70 is not hair at 40. It’s often finer in diameter but coarser in texture, the density is lower, the scalp is more visible at the part, and grey is far more resistant to colour than pigmented hair ever was. If someone drives you, they’re welcome to come in, sit down, and stay. If you’d like your daughter to be there for a colour consultation, that’s normal here. If a caregiver needs to help you into the chair or stay within sight, that’s fine and nobody will make it awkward.

This comes up constantly in Lincoln Hills, and there is a lot of bad information circulating, so here is the accurate version.

California regulates cosmetology through the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, and practising for compensation outside a licensed establishment is only lawful by two routes. The first is a Personal Service Permit, which requires two years licensed, a background check and a million dollars of liability insurance — and which covers shampooing, cutting, styling, arranging, curling and thermal waving while explicitly excluding chemical waving, colouring and relaxing. The second is the illness exception, available to a stylist currently working at a licensed establishment, when a client is genuinely incapacitated.

The practical upshot: if a mobile stylist has offered to colour your hair at your kitchen table in Sun City, they were not permitted to do it — and if the colour goes wrong, their insurance very likely will not cover it either. We’ll tell you honestly which route fits your situation when you call.
